Fox Summer Literacy Institute 2018
Memes, GIFs, and #Booksnaps, oh my!
Today’s students think and communicate in memes, GIFs, snapchats, and emoji, so how are YOU utilizing those same tools to get students to think critically about their reading and writing? In this session participants will learn how to use Google tools to create engaging, reflective learning activities for students that speak their language including memes, #booksnaps, custom GIFs, and more!
Amplify Student Thinking with Digital Lit Circles
Combining literature circles with technology can amplify student voice and give teachers and families access to the rich discussions that take place during lit circles. In this session, participants will learn about tech tools to facilitate digital literature circles including Google Classroom, Flipgrid, Google Slides, and SeeSaw. We will discuss best practices for using each tool to facilitate digital literature circles and participate in sample lit circles to help us understand the process our students will work through.
